Blog / Site
Welcome to Norvinsk
Why this site exists, what the blog and guides are going to cover, and how the tools stay free, from someone playing since before inertia.
I’ve been playing Escape From Tarkov for a long time. Since before inertia, before scav bosses, before the main questlines, before stims, before healing was an animation. I’ve watched this game get deeper, harder, and, to BSG’s credit, a little easier for beginners than when I started.
With that said, Tarkov is still the FPS with the steepest learning curve I’ve experienced.
norvinsk.net is the site I wanted back then, and it’s still the site I want now. That’s the entire ethos of this project: something that can help both total beginners and veterans of Tarkov.
What the blog is for
This is where announcements for the site land: new tools, big changes, things that broke and got fixed. If something on norvinsk.net changes, it gets written up here.
Beyond that, it’s the home for shorter pieces. Optimal in-game settings and why they’re optimal. Editorials on what’s happening in the Tarkov space: patches, wipes, community arguments worth having an opinion about. Whatever else is worth a few hundred words but doesn’t need a whole reference page.
Blogs (and Guides) will carry a patch designation, so you know what version of the game they were written about. Currently, this is a one-man operation, but I’ll try to keep it as up to date as I can.
What the guides are for
The guides section is the long-form half: PvP, maps, gun builds, and the mechanics the game never bothers to explain. Longer pieces with short videos and screenshots, meant to be referenced continuously.
It’s not ready at the moment, but when I have something to share, I’ll announce it on X and the Discord.
The tools stay free
All the tools hosted on this site will be kept free and without a login where possible. There are, of course, some things that I’d like to build in the future that might require a login of some sort, so I’m not going to close that door entirely, but as of right now, every tool will be able to be used anonymously, without an account.
I also want to keep everything free. Right now, hosting norvinsk.net is virtually free, but when it starts to come with a cost, ads will be placed in areas where they’re unintrusive and out of your way.
Tell me when it’s broken
The tools are a work in progress and they have bugs I haven’t found yet. If you hit one, or you spot a claim in a post that doesn’t match what you’re seeing in a raid, tell me: @sxmba_ on X, or come hang out in the Discord. Being told I’m wrong quickly is worth considerably more to this project than being told it’s good.
Thanks for reading. Go check out the raid board or the turn speed normalizer, and I’ll see you in the next one.
