Season 1 KORD BREACH Seasonal Ranking System Explained
Leagues landed in 1.1.5.1: seven ranks that put you into groups of 50, and a weekly XP leaderboard
Leagues went live on Tuesday in patch 1.1.5.1, the follow-up to the 1.1.5.0 Lighthouse rework from the week before. Everyone in my Discord immediately called it “ranked”, and I’ve now watched four separate people load into a raid expecting to be matched against other players of their rank.
That’s actually not what Tarkov’s Season 1 Leagues is at all. It’s a weekly XP leaderboard stapled to your seasonal character, and doesn’t touch matchmaking at all.
Here’s how the new Tarkov Leagues system works, and how to climb it.
Which Tarkov character do the KORD BREACH leagues apply to?
Leagues is available on seasonal PvP characters only. If you’re playing Season 1 (Kord Breach, running to December 7th), you’re in. If you’re on a standard character or in PvE, there’s nothing here for you yet.
Worth saying out loud because the naming doesn’t help: your season and your league rank are two different progression tracks running on the same character. The season is four months long and ends on a fixed date. Your rank resets and re-evaluates every single week inside that.
The structure: 50 players, one week, one number
After your first raid on a seasonal character, you get dropped into a group of 50 players of the same rank. That group is your entire world for the week. It gets its own leaderboard, and your position on it is decided by one thing: how much XP you earned that week.
This has nothing to do with K/D ratios or survival rate. It is strictly about XP, which is pulled from all the usual sources:
- Killing PMCs, Scavs and bosses
- Completing tasks
- Examining items
- The usual pile of in-raid actions that tick your XP bar up
The one exception seems to be that XP from Arena doesn’t count toward Leagues. It still credits your character normally, it just doesn’t move you up your pod’s leaderboard.
The seven ranks
| # | Badge | Rank | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | ![]() | Recruit | Recruit Bas-Relief |
| II | ![]() | Survivor | Survivor Bas-Relief, Going Dark poster |
| III | ![]() | Veteran | Veteran Bas-Relief, Wedge target |
| IV | ![]() | Ruthless | Ruthless Bas-Relief, Red accent walls |
| V | ![]() | Reborn | Reborn Bas-Relief, KA-BAR USMC Fighter knife |
| VI | ![]() | Ascended | Ascended Bas-Relief, Double dogtag |
| VII | ![]() | Conductor | Conductor Bas-Relief, MC Black shirt, Tactical shorts |
Recruit → Survivor → Veteran → Ruthless → Reborn → Ascended → Conductor. The bas-reliefs are numbered with Roman numerals on the badge art, so you can read someone’s rank at a glance.
Promotion and demotion in KORD BREACH Season 1
At the end of each week, your pod of 50 gets split three ways:
- Top 25 → promoted to the next rank
- Next 15 → stay where they are
- Bottom 10 → demoted
Half of every group goes up every week, and only a fifth goes down. That’s very clearly a positive lean, making it easier to move up than it is to move down.
There’s two things I take away from this:
Conductor is a time investment, not really a skill check. Recruit to Conductor is six promotions. Six promotions is six weekly resets. Even if you finish first in your pod every single week, you cannot reach the top rank in fewer than six weeks. There is no way to skip, and no way to rush it.
The difficulty is entirely in who you’re standing next to. This is the self-correcting part, and it’s really the only thing stopping the whole player base from ending up at Conductor. Each rank you climb, your 50 gets stacked with people who also just out-earned 25 others. Recruit is full of people who played a handful of raids. Somewhere up around V and VI, everyone in your pod is grinding, and finishing top 25 there is more of an ask.
It is genuinely not matchmaking
Your rank does not change who you load into a raid with. There is no Conductor lobby. You are not being protected from, or fed to, anyone. The raids are exactly the raids they were last week. Leagues is a scoreboard running alongside them.
Rewards
The first time you reach a rank, you get that rank’s rewards, and they’re permanent — demotion doesn’t take them back off you. Bank Ruthless in week four and slide back to Veteran in week five, and the red walls are still yours. You never lose ground you’ve already achieved, which is nice.
Going Dark poster (II) — hideout decoration
Wedge target (III) — hideout decoration
Red accent walls (IV) — hideout decoration
KA-BAR USMC Fighter knife (V) — a melee weapon
Double dogtag (VI) — a BEAR/USEC display piece
MC Black shirt and Tactical shorts (VII) — PMC clothing
